God Offers -- And Also Endows -- Liberty

 

We hold these truths to be self-evident,

that all men are created equal,

that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights,

that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.

The cultural religious revolutionary war rages in America.  

     On this Independence Day, the New Jersey-based group American Atheists flies banners in 27 states that proclaim "God-LESS America" or "Atheism is Patriotic." Supposedly, these atheists and other humanists are free-thinkers in the truest sense.

     Not only do these people fear the Almighty or just hate him, or both, they also seek to revise history, to deny that our country was founded by men who believed in the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. They also want to muzzle Christians, even in their own churches, from speaking of God and His truths.

     But for three centuries or so, good men and women have worked, even given their lives, to make America free and keep it that way. Free for secularists, atheists such as American Atheists and others to have the freedom to be what they wish and believe what they will. Free for them to criticize Christians.

     However, the Constitution and those who've sacrificed to keep America free have done so that those who refuse to be silenced, revise America’s history and deny their belief in God may do so.

     As we celebrate our nation’s independence this Fourth of July from the tyranny of King George III of England and his Parliament, may we remember the Liberator of liberators, Christ Jesus.

     May we remember on this Independence Day that He—as have patriots throughout America’s history and to this day, inspired by His example of love and sacrifice—sought and still seeks to bring freedom to all humans and uphold that very freedom.

     May the Lord continue to keep our country free, including the right to worship Him freely and speak to others of Him, wherever we may be.

     May He also strengthen us to remain free and to stand for Him, all while giving thanks to Him.

     And may He touch those supposed free-thinkers to see that their exercise of freedom may damn them to eternal captivity--and may they hear Jesus, as He said Luke 4:18, proclaim liberty to these spiritual captives.
